Developing a Personal Mantra

Its been a long long long time since we were here!  Anyways, happy new year 2025!  I’m looking forward to sharing more stories, reflections, and snippets of daily life here. Come to "sharing", last year I got to hear a thing about "mantra" from a friend and a mentor, and this is what I firstly need to share before we dive deep in 2025. Mantras have a way of anchoring our thoughts and guiding our actions. As I approached 2025, I felt the need for a guiding principle that would not only inspire me but also provide a framework for how I navigate the year. That’s how I arrived at my mantra: Intentional Progress . This article shares my journey of developing this mantra and how it can shape my actions in the year ahead. The Importance of a Mantra A personal mantra is more than just a phrase; it’s a compass that aligns your actions with your values and goals. It serves as a reminder to stay focused and intentional, especially when life becomes overwhelming. For me, a mant...

International Day of Education

Towards, International Day of Education 2021. The right to education is enshrined in article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The declaration calls for free and compulsory elementary education. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted in 1989, goes further to stipulate that countries shall make higher education accessible to all. When it adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the international community recognized and urged that education is essential for the success of all 17 of its goals. Sustainable Development Goal 4, in particular, aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by 2030. This year, under the theme ‘Recovery and Resilience" Now, it is the time to power education by stepping up collaboration and international solidarity to place education and lifelong learning at the centre of the recovery. With recovery- We need to gain possession or controlling of something...

Being a teenager

Now, People around teens, should understand the changes from teenagers. That's constant change, sometimes it can be very tough times to them in trying fixing some negative behavioral changes. Thats all about being a parent or guardian. I was also a teenager, just a year ago. I tried to make it at it's fullest and still do. Teenage is about being 13 to 19 years old. I spent years from form 2 to the first year of my University studies. But being a teenager is more than just being 13 to 19 years old. It carries a lot that we are always not aware of.  For parents and guardians, do you remember what things you used to do at your teen age? Were they worth doing, or was it just okay and felt fine doing them as they brought you happiness? Teenage is also associated with adolescence, which brings a lot of challenges to the teens. Since adolescence can come with the random ways, smart and confusions, best and worse and some other things, all which can affect a teenager positively or nega...

The Journey Is Never Smooth!

By DAVID J MUHUNZI, In 2018, when I joined Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, I saw some students trying every opportunity that came on their way to get money, some in online marketing and others in betting companies. I was not surprised with my observation because I knew that everyone is eager to get money, to be financially free and achieve financial liberation. I must be honest with one thing here, I also want to achieve financial liberation; the ability to efficiently and sustainably handle my demanding financial needs and life expenses. We are currently exposed to life of very high standards, due to globalization, and everyone wishes to get there, but wait, is it an overnight event? I don't think so. Financial liberation is, for the matter of fact, a process which needs determination, hard-work and above all, patience, and can not be achieved overnight unlike what some people think it is. It is not a crime to hope that one day we will be financially free, or w...

How can i create a reading behaviour

Are you getting any hardship to start a reading behaviour? Here are the tips close to you,  Set times . You should have a few set times during every day when you’ll read for at least 5-10 minutes. These are times that you will read no matter what — triggers that happen each day. For example, make it a habit to read during breakfast and lunch (and even dinner if you eat alone). And if you also read every time you’re sitting on the can, and when you go to bed, you now have four times a day when you read for 10 minutes each — or 40 minutes a day. That’s a great start, and by itself would be an excellent daily reading habit. But there’s more you can do. Always carry a book . Wherever you go, take a book with you. When I leave the house, I always make sure to have my drivers license, my keys and my book, at a minimum. The book stays with me in the car, and I take it into the office and to appointments and pretty much everywhere I go, unless I know I definitely won’t be reading (like at ...

You Own Your Mind

Do you write, paint, draw or engage in any creativity? Do you cook, decorate or love to do new things? If you do,then you are using imagination. If you watch your mind, you'll find out that, you are consistently using your imagination in various ways. You use it (imagination) while thinking about the past or future, planning, describing things, when you read, to mention a few. There are some people who believe that, they don't have imagination. Trust me or not, it might be weak but they actually process it always. When you worry or feel fear for instance, you process it (imagination). At such times, you visualize sadness and unfortunate situations of which by keep visualising negative mental images, you may attract them into your life as Budha puts it that, the mind is everything, you become what you think. Are you able to decide over what thoughts to think and which ones to reject? What about other people's thoughts and ideas you receive from various or differe...

A lifetime learner!

“Once you stop learning, you start dying” – Albert Einstein From the quote, Albert Einstein believed that learning gives life, and the moment you stop feeding yourself from learning then you start dying. You have absolutely learnt about anything new. The feeling of learning something new is always great. Just because you wanted to know about that. Curiosity. Lifetime learning is the ongoing and self motivated pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. Its activity which enhances self development. It can be include, Internships and apprenticeships. Vocational courses. Teaching yourself a new language. Studying a new subject. Bad curiosity is insecure, we want to find out something because we're afraid we're missing out, or we'll be left behind. Moody, we waver between excitement and disappointment based on what we find out. But we can all be curious in a positive way that will not lead to these negative feelings. But it c...
